Meet Celestino:
What's your name & position at Serotta?
My name is Celestino Williams and I am currently the Quality Control technician at Serotta, although I have done a number of jobs on the production floor over the course of the last 6 years.
Tell us a little bit about your family.
I just celebrated the seventh anniversary of both my marriage to my wonderful wife Demecia and my arrival to the United States from my home country of Panama. We have two amazing children, Zaven (4) and Amaia (2). My wife is part of a women's cycling group in Saratoga and both of the kids are on their bikes every day. Zaven learned to ride without training wheels in an afternoon this spring and now is attempting mountain biking and wheelies. Amaia is not to be left behind and can ride her new bike with training wheels tirelessly.
Tell us about the Serotta Bicycles you have built, an overview:
I have built five Serotta bikes since I have worked here. I started with a Fierte Ti frame that I bought at auction and then modified. I then moved on to a custom Ottrott for me and a custom CXII for my wife. Two years ago I branched out and built a custom Ottrott Mountain bike. Each bike has been a design project for me, as I have come up with my own unique designs with the help of Tony Seberger, our awesome painter and graphic designer and Caleb Sesslman, our amazing painter.
This year my project has been another Fierte Ti, this one with carbon stays. This bike has been made to promote my eco-tourism adventure company called Soposo Rainforest Adventures, which is based in Panama. It features our logo, website: http://www.soposo.com and the name of my indigenous tribe, the Naso people of Panama. My family began Soposo Rainforest Adventures in 2007 in an attempt to promote the preservation of our culture and the tropical rainforest we call home. We lead adventure and cultural tours for people from all over the world and use a portion of the proceeds to promote conservation and education projects within Naso communities. While I am in the States with my wife and children, my family continues to work for the betterment of our tribe and homeland. We are hoping to broaden our tour options to include mountain biking this upcoming season.
What's your favorite ride?
I enjoy riding my mountain bike on the great trails maintained by the Saratoga Mountain Biking Association. As for road riding, Saratoga is full of wonderful places to ride. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say the Saratoga Battlefield and surrounding areas because of the beauty and peacefulness of the place.
