Serotta Concierge
We’re here to help!
We know you value your time and we’d like to help you as quickly as possible. A challenge that comes along with being in the business since 1972 is that there are a lot of happy owners of well-loved Serottas out in the world….which means we get a lot of email and phone calls….making addressing each one individually and promptly sometimes challenging.
Please take a moment to skim through the questions below and chances are the information you are looking for is right here….
If not, please contact us at info@serotta.com and we’ll do our best to get back to you within two business days.
Currently, we don't have the Concierge desk staffed weekends or holidays. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you in getting timely help or an answer. Occasionally emails get trapped in our spam filter or bounced to somewhere unknown so if you don't hear back from us within a timely manner please feel free to send it again or even fax your question to 518.584.8900 if your mail goes unanswered.
We look forward to helping you!
November 2011 Serotta Service Updates
Inquiry response time
With all the publicity surrounding the changes in our business format the volume of inquiries regarding work in our system has increased 10X, creating a complete gridlock. Many of you write multiple times a day….No exaggeration, which just makes the task greater. Please trust, Serotta is not going anywhere but forward. We ask for your cooperation, understanding and patience. We will answer your inquiry!
Repairs & Refinishing
It’s that time of year…and our repair and refinish department is backlogged by at least 16 weeks.
If your frame is already here, Please…..be patient. Rest assured we will get to it and will give you a status update soon.
If you have not sent in your frame and are in a hurry, we suggest you may want to consider another option.
Information regarding older frames
This means anything from 1972-2011…frames that have already left the factory. Although we do store customer information for our records and/or our future use, we no longer provide information on previously built orders. We suggest that you ask the original purchaser (individual or dealership) for this information.
Decals
Due to an increase in the number of counterfeit Serottas we’ve seen sold on the internet, we can no longer supply replacement decals directly to consumers. We will provide them to refinishing professionals on request after proof of authenticity.
New Order Lead Times
Average new order delivery time is 12-14 weeks.

2. Do you sell other parts?
- We do sell ST bearing sets for $99, Head Tube badges for $99, as well as fork plugs, brake bolts, seat collars and other current parts. Shipping will be added and the same information requested above will be needed to process your order. Please contact info@serotta.com to get prices on other items. We do not have older model parts in stock any longer.
4. I am looking to clean my frame, what are the best products to use?
- Finish line bike wash is a great product however Dawn will work just as well in a pinch. If you are looking to give it a polish both Pedro’s Bike Lust and Pledge work well. Additionally if you have a few rust spots, Shout (yes the stain fighter) can be used.
5. I’m looking to repaint my Serotta frame. Do you offer this service, and how would I go about doing this?
Our in-house paint finishing facility is world class and we’re proud to say that our finishes today are probably better than at any time in the past, second to no custom paint facility large or small.
Refinishing a frame begins with a careful inspection. Removing the old finish can be painstakingly difficult and time consuming which is one of the reasons our refurbishing prices may be than many job shops. We do not use any caustic chemicals or overly aggressive abrasives that could risk long term damage to the integrity of your Serotta frame. Please note, refinishing your Serotta by another finishing shop may void your warranty.
- Our current paint colors are available on our web site, as well as our current paint schemes. The 2011 charges are as follows:

6. It appears that Serotta doesn’t offer the color that I want to get my frame repainted with. Do you have access to any other colors?
- Currently we only offer our 2011 colors.
7. Do you carry touch-up paint?
- Due to Federal Regulations prohibiting the mailing of hazardous materials we are no longer able to offer touch up paint. We suggest that you bring your bike to a car refinisher or a hobby shop and have them match the paint. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
8. My Ti (or carbon) frame is currently painted and I would like to return it to a Bare Ti (or clear carbon) finish. Do you provide this service?
- If a frame has been painted then it can only be repainted, it can never be refinished as Matte or Polished Ti or clear carbon. A general rule is that “What has been painted must stay painted.” We also can not make any matte Ti finishes into polished Ti finishes.
9. WARRANTY. I am thinking about purchasing a Serotta; however I am curious if there is any additional warranty protection available.
- We understand that purchasing a Serotta is a lifelong investment and we want to ensure that you ride your cycle as hard and for as long as it was intended for. In addition to the lifetime guarantee which covers any material failures or defects, we offer an additional Crash Protection warranty for $295.00. Also known as the Peace of Mind Crash Protection Program, this offer covers any accidental damage. More information can be obtained either from your local Serotta dealer, or http://www.serotta.com/about/peace-of-mind-crash-protection.html. It should be noted that warranty and crash protection is only available to the original owner and for crash protection only at the time of original purchase.
10. I recently purchased a Serotta from a friend of mine and was wondering if any warranty was attached to the frame or if I would be able to purchase additional warranty coverage.
- Each Serotta frame is built to the specifications of the individual who purchased it; which makes each frame as unique as its owner down to a materials level. For this reason warranties are non-transferable between owners and no new warranties are available.
11. My frame is damaged or crashed, what should I do?
- First stop riding it!
- Second contact us to get an RA number. Emailing photos of the damage always are a huge help. You can send these to info@serotta.com.
- Strip your frame down to frame or frame and fork only, box it up and send it to us here at
Serotta Competition Bicycles
41 Geyser Rd
Saratoga Springs NY 12866
- Clearly label the RA number on the box so we know who sent us the frame
Give us a week after it arrives to open and look over the frame prior to getting back to you about what your next step is.
12. How can I find out about my older Serotta?
Serotta has been building frames since 1972. Over the years we’ve crafted tens of thousands of bicycles, many of them made to order. Because quality has always been a cornerstone of our company ethos, many, many of these are still being ridden today.
However, information
regarding any frame that we produce is considered to be the property of the
owner and we do not provide this information
to anyone other than the owner of record. Therefore the best way to find out more about
your older Serotta is to contact the person or store that it was purchased
from. If you are the owner of record, we can provide copies of the order information for $75.00, pre-paid by credit card.
- If you are looking to determine whether or not the bike is a good fit for you the only way to accurately do this is to take the bike to a certified bike fit technician. Serotta International Cycling Institute provides a searchable database of fit technicians that are certified by SICI. This can be accessed at http://www.serottacyclinginstitute.com/zipSearch.php.
- The Serotta forum is a great resource to learn historical information regarding frames that we have produced through the years. Please feel free to peruse the current topics posted or to ask the members if they have information, or anecdotes, regarding your frame.
