Serotta Interview: Questions & Answers

Tell us about your family, significant other, children, pets.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Mara for just over a year and we have a dog princess (she came with the name) we call P-Dog.

Tell us about the Serottas you own.
I ride a CXII which I fell in love with the first time I rode it.

When did you first start cycling?
I have been cycling for as long as I can remember. My family has always been into cycling. Any time there was a family party, my uncles and cousins would get together and ride to the party, no matter if it was 10 miles or 100 miles away.

Tell us about your best ride ever.
My best ride ever was when I was 15 years old. My dad and I rode to North Carolina. It was great meeting people in every little town we went through.

Is there a place you would love to ride?
The Alps.

What motivates you?
Most of my motivation comes from just trying to stay in shape. I also try to be the best I can be at what ever I choose to do.

Do you have any rituals or things you do before each race (ride)?
I always wear the same red t-shirt to every race. But the thing I try to do the most is to stay relaxed and not expend any energy worrying about the race.

Do you prefer tubulars or clinchers?
Tubulars.

What has been your greatest achievement on the bike? Off the bike?
My greatest achievement on the bike has been having the 4th fastest bike split at Ironman, Lake Placid, NY and qualifying for Ironman Hawaii. Off the bike my biggest achievement is successfully running a business with my brother and father.

If you couldn't ride...what would you do?
Anything but sit still!

What are your interests outside of cycling?
There are to many to list but I really enjoy playing softball and volleyball. I also try to spend as much time as possible with my family.

Favorite post-race (or ride) food?
Anything salty!

What food will you NOT eat?
There are a lot of foods I won’t eat but the one’s people seem to think are the strangest are hamburgers and potatoes.

Favorite movie and/or book?
Favorite book is Ultra marathon man by Dean Karnazes.

Did or do you have a nickname?
No

Tell us something interesting or silly about yourself.
I don’t think I am all that interesting but I have a crazy desire to complete a triple Ironman.

Do you prefer lager, ale or stout? White or red wine?
Stout.
