Bicycle Garage of Indy (BGI) www.bgindy.com, a mainstay of Indiana cycling traces its roots back to the early 1980s. Being chosen "Best Bike Store" in local media consumer polls has become a nearly annual event and consistently being in the top 25 or 50 U.S. dealers for the brands BGI represents has become the norm. BGI actively donates to and supports several local bicycling clubs, sponsors two local bicycle racing teams and the majority of employees are active cyclists.

With a year round operation that includes home and commercial fitness equipment and over 70 employees on staff during the summer, BGI is a very big dealer compared to most U.S. bike stores. Within all this however, we've built a unique Bicycle Fitting Room. When coming in for a fitting you feel as if you've stepped into a small specialty shop within the bigger store where you know all the attention is focused on you. Inspiring our fitting services have been memories of neighborhood shops where the goal was to do whatever it took to make your cycling more enjoyable.

Serotta Certified Fitter Frank Radaker has combined years of personal cycling experience with the systematic approach taught in the Serotta Fitting School and created a fitting service that has attracted cyclists from eight states and as far away as Maryland and Georgia. Frank's first bicycle racing license was issued by the ABLA, the predecessor to the USCF, so he's been cycling quite awhile. Frank's first pedal cleats were nailed on, really. For each new generation of component design (e.g. downtube shifters to STI and Ergo) methods and parameters for fitting bikes change and Frank has seen most of it. Even with 1,000+ bike fittings under his belt (just since attending the Serotta School) Frank continues to improve his well honed fitting system by developing the Sizing Station and fitting software currently unique to BGI.

COOL BREEZE CYCLERY

124-F Trade Court
Mooresville, NC 28117
(704) 663-8812
www.coolbreezecyclery.com

Cool Breeze Cyclery was founded in 1988 by Bruce Guild in Mooresville, NC. Mooresville, located 20 miles north of Charlotte, on the shores of Lake Norman, is also known as Race City USA because it is home base for most of the NASCAR teams.

Cool Breeze Cyclery moved from its downtown location in November of 2006 to its' new 6000 sq ft store. Cool Breeze took on new partners for the move, Steve and Chris, both long time cycling enthusiasts with corporate management experience. Steve is managing partner for the business and Bruce oversees sales and merchandising, with most of his time spent in our busy fit studio as the Senior Serotta Fit technician. John Wilcox, a nine (9) year veteran of cool breeze, heads the Service Department with 5 full time professional mechanics.

Cool Breeze Cyclery incorporates several new concepts in bike store operations, with a large emphasis on services not found in the traditional bike shop. The marriage of Bruce Guild (Serotta Fit Tech) and Kathi Guild (long term and accredited personal trainer) gave birth to the vision for a bike shop that could give the starting cyclist and elite athlete alike a holistic cycling experience…a one stop shop for all of their cycling and training needs. From their first bike, to fitting, coaching, metabolic training, diet, personal training, yoga, Pilates and multi-rider Compu-trainer classes, if it involves cycling and wellness it can now be found at Cool Breeze Cyclery. With this new concept we can assess fit issues and correct them with targeted training programs designed and lead by our bike specific personal trainers in our in-house Fitness Studio.

Metabolic training is so much more effective than traditional coaching methods and our athletes who follow their plans are meeting their genetic potential with more focused training programs set by metabolic testing re-done every 4 to 6 weeks. After each test they are given a 6 week training program that progresses as their aerobic base, anaerobic threshold and lactate tolerances increase. On the bike fitting side, it works great because as our Serotta Fit Techs find problems or issues like flexibility we can do more than just set the handlebar height for proper leg function and send them home feeling disappointed. We can explain the need for their current fit but go on to design a training program to increase their range of motion and flexibility which can be implemented here in our in-house Fitness Studio. The same process holds true for other issues found by our Serotta Fit Techs like core strength, muscle imbalances, and the need to reverse posture issues from years of improper cycling form.

Serotta, and their lead in bio-mechanical fitting, inspired us to give our customers every advantage to make the most of their cycling experience and we at Cool Breeze Cyclery believe we are on the leading edge of a renaissance in the bike business where we think past just selling a bike and look to deliver a new level of professionalism, complete range of services and education leading to greater customer intimacy and satisfaction.

THE CYCLEFIT WAY
Our Philosophy is to reflect the Gold Standard in all aspects of competitive cycling - to make available to all cyclists the best processes and methodology used by top professional athletes to help them reach the peak of performance and injury prevention.

CycleFit is in a sense a wholesale rejection of the classic cycle-retail model. Previous to CycleFit we operated a small chain of boutique cycle shops in Central London but always felt constrained by the brands that we stocked and the retail focus of the business -- we were often aware that the retail imperative was contrary to the customer's real needs. We had an epiphany over lunch with Ben Serotta at 'The Southern Cross' pub in Parson's Green -- we were discussing how liberating it would be to focus on each client's physiology and build their position and bike from the standpoint of this uniqueness. So we stopped in 2003 and started CycleFit.

The focus of the business is now to treat the buying of a bicycle more like the purchase of a pair of spectacles. It is, in our opinion, as outrageous to consider buying spectacles without a full eye examination as it is to buy a bicycle without a comprehensive professional sizing. Especially when you consider a bicycle often costs so much more and the capacity for under-performance or injury is arguably greater. Hence CycleFit is appointment only and not an open walk-in retail environment -- consequently it is impossible to impulse purchase a frame or bike.

A 'CycleFit' lasts between 2 -- 2 1/2 hours and is the most exhaustive evaluation of an individual's biomechanics and performance available in Europe. We use Silicon Coach 'kinematic' analysis to contrast static versus dynamic measurement, it also helps deconstruct and illustrate postural and technique issues for the client. On the second client monitor we display: pedal-bias, torque, power and cadence in real time using Computrainer Spinscan -- so net effects of changes are easily demonstrated

feet

FOOT-UP -- We have always been foot-centric at CycleFit -- both in terms of cleat position and balancing and also in terms of general foot stability. We use two custom footbed systems.

1. Sidas Conformable -- we have worked with Sidas to produce our own CycleFit branded 'Slim' blank.

2. eSoles -- We are currently the only UK specialist offering this remarkable custom cycling orthotic. eSoles has rightly become the Rolls Royce pick of the pro-peloton. We believe your feet deserve the same. We also work exclusively in the UK with Paul Swift and his LeWedge shims and fitting tools.

tv

CYCLEFIT TECHNICIANS - We currently have five 'cycle-fitters', three of which are Advanced Serotta trained: Julian Wall, Philip Cavell and Warrick Spence. We believe this is the greatest concentration of fitting expertise anywhere in the world outside of the USA? Our two junior fitters, Kimberly Kabatoff and Anthony Corke, are trained using the Serotta Elements methodology for CycleFitting and Paul Swift (LeWedge) and Sidas Conformable in terms of foot control and balance. CycleFit is the perfect place to learn fitting because it is such a concentrated environment -- each day is packed in with such interesting and varied clients.

CYCLEFIT BRANDS -- We had one aspiration -- to stock the best available bike brands in the world -- regardless of price. In many instances we had to pursue these brands across the world as they were not represented in the UK. We're the Top 3 worldwide dealer for Serotta -- Arguably the most exquisitely crafted custom-frames ever made. By anyone. We run a nine-model test-fleet in The Alps for extended (around Mont Blanc ) test-riding. Used instore by Warrick (HSG Carbon/CXII), Kimberly (Legend ST Fierte/CXII) and Jules (Ottrott ST). Our other brands include Rocket 7, Lewedge, Castelli, Sidi, Shimaon race shoes, Natural Energy Products by Born and Agisko.

Cycle Sports, Inc.

www.cyclesportsonline.com

When we were kids we rode whatever bike was closest to the house. Now we are all grown up and something happened along they way. We have different ideas about bikes and about how they fit. At Cycle Sports we are dedicated to providing the best cycling experience.

Cycle Sports was founded in August, 1991 by Thierry Attias after he endured an experience that has become all too common. Thierry was shopping for a bicycle, walking from shop to shop, checkbook hanging from his back pocket, tugging on wheels, poking at bikes and trying to get some help. After about 45 minutes in each shop someone would finally look up, disinterested and mumble, "Somebody be with ya in a minute." Discouraged, Thierry went home, called his friend Mark Munoz, and asked, "What does it take to open a bike shop?" Three thousand dollars, and one Visa card later, Cycle Sports was born.

"We are a customer service-oriented place; a shop where people come ask questions and get real answers", says Thierry. Now more than 15 years later, Cycle Sports is still intensely focused on serving each customer. The approach is more sophisticated and the methods are more refined, but the relationship formed with each client is still the most important aspect of the business. Serotta has become a natural partner in this approach.

Cycle Sports has two Advanced Certified Fit Technicians on staff, and a host of friendly and knowledgeable sales associates to help on your next visit. The Service Department is focused and detail-oriented. Everything about Cycle Sports exists to serve each client's unique needs.

The Road Less Taken:
How does a specialty road and triathlon cycling company survive in central Vermont and continue to be a perennial top five Serotta dealer?   In its simplest form, Fit Werx thrives by being different and offering unique services and products worth traveling for.  Fit Werx was the first to actively bridge the benefits of a top notch pro shop with the skills, technology, service and individualized approach that only the best "by appointment" fitting studios can offer. Whether you are looking for a new bike or want to make your existing bike fit as best as possible, everything we do at Fit Werx is about helping you find the best riding position and the best products for your individual needs.

Bike Fitting:
It is more than just our name.  Fit Werx is nationally recognized as one of the nation's "Best Bike Fitters" and Fit Werx co-founder Ian Buchanan has been a core instructor with the Serotta International Cycling Institute since its inception.  All Fit Werx fitters have advanced training and Fit Werx co-owner Sarah Shorett is one of only a few women who are Serotta certified fitters. The Fit Werx approach to fitting has brought people from as far away as Macau and our approach to products, technical skills and service keeps them coming back.  Don't just take our word for it, visit www.fitwerx.com/NewFiles/ClientTestimonials.html

Selection and Knowledge:
Since 2002, Fit Werx has penned Triathlete Magazine's "Tech Support" column six times a year--offering advice for all levels of riders in a technical, yet easy to understand manner.  We take a science based approach to testing, selecting and carrying a wide range of the best products available.  We make sure that the bike and component brands we have are the very best available and, while we stock a lot of pro shop products, we do not carry the condescending attitude or exclusivity many pro shops seem to be known for.  Regardless of the level of your technical knowledge, Fit Werx speaks your language.

Service:
Our goal is to make your interactions with Fit Werx as comfortable as possible; many of the riders we work with have become friends and neighbors.  Fit Werx offers the personal attention you deserve, from the first time you walk in the door to years (and bikes...) down the road.  Whether you have been riding for decades or are buying your first bike, you deserve to be heard and you deserve accurate information.  No one is a number at Fit Werx; we are here to ask you the right questions and then listen to your answers. (continued)

Results:  While multiple collegiate national champions, Ironman champions and Olympians choose to work with Fit Werx, the most rewarding part of our business is helping people achieve their goals of enjoying cycling more and riding better. Whether you get a stock bike or a full custom ride, every bike from Fit Werx is as unique as its owner.  We are proud of the fact that Fit Werx bikes are physically beautiful, but they are not wall ornaments.  One thing characterizes almost all of our athletes -- you don't want to just look at bikes, you actually want to ride them.

Destination Locations:
Come for a fitting, stay for the riding.  Whether it is summer or winter, our Vermont location is in the heart of the Green Mountains and offers some of the best outdoor activities (skiing and great cycling are minutes from our door) anywhere.  By car or by plane, it is also easier to get to than you might think and nothing beats some time out of the hustle and bustle of the city.  Whether you want to test the latest equipment or just want to enjoy a few days away, Fit Werx in Waitsfield is a great place to start.  For those that want to stay closer to the city, Fit Werx2 in Massachusetts opened in 2007 at a convenient location just outside of Boston.  Fit Werx2 offers the Fit Werx proven service, methodology and product selection in a comfortable, respectful atmosphere.  At one location or the other, you are guaranteed to have a great experience.

Fit Werx combines the selection of a pro shop, the knowledge and technical skills of one of the nation's most recognized fitting studios, and a friendly and non-exclusive attitude in a relaxed and professional environment.  Like the traveler in fellow Vermonter Robert Frost's poem "The Road LessTaken", taking the less traveled path can make "all the difference."  If you are interested in finding out how much of a difference we can make, please visit www.fitwerx.com.

Get a Grip Cycles

4359 W. Irving Park Rd.
Chicago, IL 60641
www.getagripcycles.com

Get a Grip Cycles is devoted to creating cyclists. To this end, Get a Grip provides not just the best bikes and service, but also the best cycling experience for each individual client. Get a Grip is known for a methodical approach to customer service that views each cyclist as an individual with a unique set of wants and needs. The first priority then, is to determine what a client's expectations are and then to match them up with the proper equipment that meets those expectations. This philosophy is highlighted by a detail-oriented approach to bike fit, which is not treated as an addition, but as a necessary component of cycling enjoyment.

The Get a Grip staff knows that bicycles are symmetrical pieces of equipment, and that our bodies are not. By understanding what their clients bring to the fitting in terms of asymmetries, imbalances, strengths and weaknesses a proper fit can be determined. So, from the detailed fitting of the pedal and cleat interface, to the drafting of a custom frame, they have the tools and expertise to take your cycling experience to the next level.

Highgear Bike & Outdoor

8610 Brentwood Dr
La Vista, NE 68128
United States of America
www.highgearomaha.com

The Highgear Bicycle Store of Omaha opened its doors in the spring of 2002. Company founder Kent McNeill understood the need for a bike shop that supplied customers with great product, outstanding customer service and an understanding of bicycle fit. Along with being a certified cycling coach and a former semi-pro racer with experience making prosthetic limbs, Kent's advanced bike fit training from Serotta more than qualified him to meet the needs of a growing client base. As the Business grew so did the staff. Highgear now has four Serotta-trained fit techs on its staff: Matt Tillinghast, Miah Sommer, Scott Wente and Kent now perform an ever-increasing number of professional fittings for clients of all types.

The employees at Highgear are passionate about their bikes and enjoy riding together as a group on the weekends either on or off road. Many are involved with local bicycling advocacy groups, trail construction and maintenance, and youth bicycle functions. The staff members' interests are diverse and include road racing, commuting, BMX, mountain biking, Triathlons, and Cyclocross racing.

Highgear's philosophy has always been to treat customers like riding partners; always doing what is best for the customer has been crucial to the success of the shop. The High Peaks Cyclery Advantage
Thinking of buying a new bicycle? One of your first choices, and not necessarily an easy one, will be where to shop. It can be a challenge because there are a myriad of stores that carry two-wheelers, from specialty retailers, to giant department stores, to backyard garage operations.

Where you buy has everything to do with what you get. You see bicycles aren't like toasters or suitcases. Bikes are shipped in boxes and they must be assembled and tuned. There are many types, too, and you should never buy until you've figured out which is right for you. Measurements and adjustments are required to ensure the frame is the correct size and that the seat and handlebars are properly positioned. Every new bicycle will need a minor tune-up after several weeks of use. Modern road and mountain bikes can travel at high speeds and carry you over demanding terrain where the machine's materials and construction get tested. A quality two-wheeler, carefully assembled and fit to you, will be the safest, most durable and fun bicycle to ride. For these reasons, we strongly recommend shopping at a good specialty bicycle store. At High Peaks, we offer competent salespeople, Serotta certified fitters, a Serotta fit area and expert mechanics, with on-site repair department, to ensure that you get the right fit, bike and a quality machine.

Here are the 9 top reasons High Peaks Cyclery is the best place to shop:

1. HPC has the right bike for you. We offer a wide selection of bicycles for different people and uses. And we provide expert assistance in selecting the proper bike type and model.

2. Comfort and safety are built into every bike we sell. Bicycles come in different sizes. We find the right frame size for you and then dial in the fit by positioning the seat and handlebars, brake levers and shifters as required. This ensures comfort and that you're in complete control of your bike for safety. Our goal is to make your new bike as comfortable to ride and as easy to pedal as possible.

3. All our new bikes are assembled by professional bicycle mechanics. You might be surprised to learn that bicycles are not completely assembled at the factory. It's true. They're actually delivered to us disassembled and in a box, at no additional charge, we spend hours assembling, tuning and testing every bike. This is required by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and we pride ourselves in meeting the highest standards. Our technicians and service department are always prepared to make adjustments and provide advice should you need assistance during a purchase or after a sale.

4. We allow test rides! How do you know if that new rig is the right ride for you? The best test, and the truest way to judge a bike, is by taking a spin on it. Roll down the street and shift through the gears. Feel how the frame fits your legs and arms. Try the brakes. Stand up and climb. Coast a bit. Does the bike feel comfortable, easy to pedal, smooth? Is it quiet? Do you like the ride? Make some mental notes and return to our shop to try some others. We're happy to let you compare bikes and get a feel so you find the perfect machine.

5. Our experienced staff is happy to offer all the free cycling advice you need. We're staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic cyclists who love to share their expertise. Need to learn how to shift, fix a flat, carry gear, pump your tires? Want to find the best places to ride or friends to pedal with? Just ask, and we'll be more than happy to help.

6. Every new bike comes with a FREE tune-up. Bicycles are machines that require maintenance. One of the most important services is the first tune-up, which is due after you've ridden your new bike for a few weeks. During this time, cables might stretch, spokes may loosen and adjustments could change. For your new rig to ride right and last as long as possible, we provide a free tune-up where we thoroughly check all systems (a $30 to $60 value, depending upon the work required).

7. All our bikes are guaranteed. We stand behind every bike we sell. If something goes wrong, bring it in and we'll be happy to deal with it. In the rare event of a breakdown, there's also a manufacturer's warranty protecting your purchase.

8. Our bikes offer the highest quality, longest life and best resale value. At HPC, we don't just stock any bicycles. Because we stand behind our products, we find and carry only the finest brands and models. Which means that you get a great bike that will last and last with nothing more than regular care and maintenance. And, should you decide to upgrade, you'll be able to sell the bike for a good price.

9. We carry all the best accessories to go with your new bike. Cycling's most fun when you have the right gear to go along with that new bike. At HPC you'll find all the top-quality accessories and equipment such as helmets, locks, pumps, hydration systems, computers, and plenty of other goodies designed to help you enjoy riding. And, we're here to help you choose what's right for you.
